Somewhere between Surfing!  and the “Surf-Kings” thread i started to think about what a proa designed like an open-60 or surfboard would look like.
Add some sprinkle of David Raisons Team Evolution and spice it upp with a large dose of wind-surfing, and i believe we could have some mighty fun times on the water!

I imagine a 80 feet long and 4 feet wide surfboard/scow vaka optimized for planing. 10 sailors walking the aka back and forth to keep the ama skimming and some serious amounts of canvas in the air. Absolutly no interior room. It should be a large glorified surfboard. Only speed. Maybe a head in the leepod/aka-structure.
Since i cant draw anything remotely interesting on my computer, i will not even try.

Anyone who wants to pitch in with ideas are most welcome! I just want to throw it out into the open, since daydreaming alone is kind of lonely.

Johannes.

Might such a boat look similar to Slingshot, pictured at the end of this thread? http://proafile.com/forums/viewthread/91/

The only two-way planing boats I know of are some kite boats by Dave Culp: http://www.dcss.org/speedsl/

As far as I know, current boards for kite sailing are two-way planing boards.

True.  I didn’t think of them because Johannes asked about boats, and scaling up to 80 feet.
