Hi Johannes,
I’m really enjoying your experiments. Some very creative ideas.
With a DeWalt drill and a hammer, anything is possible!

Looking forward to the new rig. You always manage to surprise!

Thanks for posting and keep on having fun.
Cheers for now

Thank you for the kind words Claudio!

I sailed my scale model today, but the mast broke after a few runs.
I used my old lug-sail, and it was much better for the monoproa. It was fast, and tracked straight.

I am satisfied with the performance and general behavior. To much righting moment is not good for a monoproa, in the same way as for a regular proa ( we don’t see Russell Brown load his ama with 2000 pounds of lead, even if that would give some real impressive RM).

Cheers,
Johannes

Monoproa in some breaking waves - Youtube

Its a short video of the monoproa sailing through some breaking waves near the shore. The rudder hits some rocks on the bottom a couple of times. It is easy to see it suddenly slow down a couple of times in the video.

I think this is the best behaving boat (scale model) i have built yet. It seems to be fast (when not pounded mercilessly by the waves). It will sail straight on any course with a locked rudder, even in steep breaking waves near the shore.  It is stable enough to take almost anything i throw at it. It does not lack any RM, even though i did not try to maximize RM in any way.

Cheers,
Johannes
