This fantastic card came my way today from the gang at Canoe Sailing Magazine. Maybe '09 will be the Year of the Proa! Hope everyone had a good Christmas, and may the new year exceed your expectations!

  • Aloha and warmest greetings to one and All.

Hau’oli Makahiki Hou/ Amerettesu Omedetto Happy Holidays along with Happy New Year, and Joyfull Sailing for All Concern.

Personally, I believe the Year of the Sailing/Foiling Submesible Katamaran is what is in store for the 2009 Expectations for Joy Under Sail.

The main problem with The Flying Proa or sailing outrigger is the “shunting-of-the-rig” Logicistics and the potential of loss of stability in an extreme Sea-State. Katamaran is easier and more stable than Proa or Trimaran.

Katamaran is mush more simplified and Sea-Kindliness is a “Cake-Walk, especially when one rigs-up as Free-standing Bi-plane Solid-Sail-Rigs; and the configuration of the “Given” Concept is Super, super Strong, Ultra, ultra Light and the interity is very wide and stanced for utmost Stability and Comfort of longistics and effortless application.

And so with the Catamaran when the “given” provision is to have the Kites/Wings -n- Foils set in place for off-the-wind, and accross swell angles the performance of Proas are Good, Tris are Better, yet Cats are Mo-Bettah.

Yours for Joyfull sailing/foiling/submarining fullfillment -n- Greatest Expectations to Allways -n- Alltimes Sail/Surf Faster than the Wind; and No-Forget Have a “Surfilicious-Day”.

Me Ke Aloha Pumehana (JJMSSL iruka SC).

P.S. As we Sailers/Foilers/"Glide-Ratio-Flyers" -n- Wind-Wave-Sun propelled Sub-Mariners-( All of us Voyagers and Way-finders) harness the “gifts” that will be presented to us this year S F S F tt W (Sailing/Foiling/Surfing Faster than the Wind) we will have the Concept and the configurations to be most Sea-Kindly and we can look to the next Horizons to be clear ad bright to Keep the “Sweet-Glide” with VMG of 35 knots 24 hour daily runs.

We predict that 2009-2010 will see Ocean-harnessed “Free-Ride-from-Nature “Self-Sustainable Non-Emmissions Ships” that shall be averaging 50 knots-plus when optimum-conditions and “sea-state” present such a “given” senario. The Future of Ships are the “given” answers to many of our un-solved questions.
    mahalo iruka-san.
