I’ve been messing around with bi directional sailing since the early seventies, mainly in my brain, sometimes in Real Life.  My first actual proas were based on div ii windsurfers. Which meant going skinnier than legal, but not tacking or jibing has it’s advantages, which meant stability needs changed, and falling on the beam was painful, which meant eventually no outrigger.  I started out with larger versions of Micronesian lagoon racers-2 slender hulls, one long stick- pretty abstract!- and then became obsessed with Bruce Foils.  And then just one hull.  I have no pics- the blessings of a nasty divorce.  Imagine the Serenity with the foil (old helicopter blade- Willawaw!) in the middle and a 4’ track for the mast foot.  Bearing off was a bitch.

Many years of doodling followed, and then I came up with the idea of doing an IC with the same idea.  Tom Speer bidirectional foil by CCI.  I’ll post some pics if I can get them out of my iPhone.  Wobbly.  Next iteration is in the brain.

Anyway, I’ve been lurking for years, and this seems like a good place with kindred spirits.

Amati= Paul Scott, Spokane, Washington State, USA.  Lots of lakes.

I’m retired recently from 42 years tuning pianos, and 30 some odd years as a recording artist.  I am mainly now a recovering music industry refugee.  if you Google Paul Scott, Cellist, Essays, Nightvision, much more info is available if interested.

Happy to be here.
