Aloha Laurent & Michael / editor,  and all other Pacific Proa Fans.

As everybody is trying to gather that data, could it be an idea, to make an specific place for such data , sort of spreadsheet with known correct data. that would be most helpful for a lot of Pacific proa fans !!!??

I would suggest to put only existing Pacific Proa’s in that data bank…......:

Who is interested ?.....  any input?..........come on ..everybody have some sort of list…......
cheers Sven

This is an old idea, see: http://proafile.com/forums/viewthread/125/ , but never realised. IMO it needs an new theme in this forum for that.

Well, if our revered Editor can tell me how to share an Excel file, I am more than happy to share what I collected, even though I do NOT guaranty any level of accuracy…

Cheers,

Laurent

I think it would be fantastic if we had something like that around. Personally I think a Wiki would be the best solution by far. It’s online, everyone can edit it (might be better to restrict that to members only, but that’s possible too), all data is stored, so older values are preserved on the server as well in case someone messes something up, and most importantly: because it’s stored in one place (on the server) you don’t have the problem of a million versions of some excel table flying around the net, but have one synchronized version that everyone has access to.

I think it would be best if the data would be split up into two separate tables, like “core data” and “more details” or something like that. It should also be possible to create subsections for different “versions” of the same boat, so that if someone for example swaps out their ama or their rig, the different configurations are all listed there (maybe we’ll even see some differences in top speed for example?).

The question is, is our admin willing to set up a wiki for us to do that? 😊 It shouldn’t be too much trouble to do, wikis are fairly easy to set up from what I’ve heard…

I wish there was a way to upload Excel files (or any non-image file) to the forum but apparently the creators of this forum never envisioned the need. I suggest Wikiproa to share files of this type.
