Hello,

As some of you know my father Jim Morris owned CHEERS and THREE CHEERS. He died in 92’ and Mom died this summer.

While cleaning out her home, I got most of the CHEERS and THREE CHEERS related items.

One item is a framed study drawing of CHEERS by Dick Newick. It is approximately 20”/51cm X 38”/97 cm, weights 18 lbs. I already have one copy of this framed drawing, so this is a second one that I don’t need. Dick Newick has been downsizing, so there is no reason to send it to him.

I’m sorry, I don’t know how to post a photo of this drawing on this website.

I’m not wanting to make money off this item, rather I’d like to find it a good home with someone that would really appreciate it. Obviously, it is very big and heavy, so shipping it overseas would be exspensive. All I’d like to ask is that whoever wants this would pay for the shipping (from Golden, Colorado).

I’m sure a lot of folks here that would be interested in this. Would it be fair to have everyone that contacts me (via private message) have their name put into a hat and then draw a “winners” name from all of them? Should there be a deadline of January first? What do you think?

Cheers,
Halsted Morris

Sounds like a good idea, and yes, Jan. 1 sounds right. I’d love to have a drawing of CHEERS by D. Newick, that’s for sure.

I was doing some photocopy stuff out of the book PROJECT CHEERS, for something that I’m working on. And I noticed that the design drawing on the inside of the back cover is the same one that I have here for this drawing. But, obviously A LOT larger.

So, if you have a book you’ll know what I’m talking about.

Let’s get some more names into this drawing….

Dear Halsted,

I would love to have the drawing (and the book as well but it’s not available here), but I believe I’am to poor to pay for such a big overseas package. If it is possible to unframe the drawing and send it in a tube, then please put my name in the hat.

Best regards and a merry Christmas, Michel

Greetings gang!!

Happy New year to all the Proafile.com readers.

Tonight I cut up a bunch of slips of paper and I wrote the names of all the folks that put their name “in the hat” for the framed set of CHEERS design drawings.

To have a fair drawing I had my lady Barb draw from an ice bucket with the small slips of paper in it. The ice bucket in question is the ice bucket that the Ida Lewis Yacht Club gave to Tom Follett and CHEERS as the 1st American yacht to finish the 1968 OSTAR race. I thought the ice bucket was appropriate.

So, here is the winner of this drawing. Drumroll please….
1) Milton “Skip” Johnson

If “Skip” can’t except/afford the shipping the runners up are….

2) Russell Brown

3) Lumanen = Chris

So, “Skip” please private message me on Proafile.com about doing the shipping of these framed drawings. Thanks to everyone for showing your interest in CHEERS.

Cheers,
Halsted Morris

Thanks Halsted,
I’m looking forward to seeing what you send, but I’m leaving for a couple of weeks, so I won’t see them until the middle of the month.
My wife and I are hauling a boatload of boat building materials up to a friend who lives in the Desolation Sound area of BC on our proa.
These long skinny boats are actually pretty good cargo carriers.  We have carried over 2000 pounds of plywood for the same friend.
Thanks very much for thinking of me,
Russell
