Hi Johannes,

You may have already solved this with your post #20 (Bath tub experiment) Imagine the same setup with a longer “Bolt” attached to the side of the hull like a side mounted rudder.

If I have totally misunderstood, please say so, so I can learn too.

They way you solved it will probably work excellent, but I donĀ“t like surface-piercing foils. I try to avoid them.
I have not solved this kind of foil or rudder. I love to play around with ideas, but I have not yet tried this on a model. I intend to, but there is to much ideas and way to little time. The problem with tunnel-foils is the great forces in every direction. They resist every non forward motion equally, and will put lots of stress in the connective structure from every direction. Not just sideways as a normal open rudder or foil.
