I have only just read this thread in any detail - although i have followed proafile for years now. this (single jib on a track from bow to bow) rig is very similar to what i think is a great proa rig, however the idea that i came up with to both help keep luff tention and also to shift the center of effort slightly to WW while off the wind is to have a boom along the foot of the sail. however rather than attaching to the hull beneath the tack, i would adapt the self vanging system that radio controlled yachts use on their jibs. having a boom would also allow the (fully battened) jib to maintain shape while reefed - reducing sail area in a similar way to a conventional mainsail, slab reefing style. i haven’t yet figured out how to post a sketch yet (nor have i got around to doing a sketch, though i did build a successful model.)
