Hi everyone,
My name is Thomas, and I live in New Zealand. I’m officially Dutch, but I’ve sort of got a foot in both countries now (yeah it’s a long stretch).
I’ve been following this website, and lately of course the forum also, for quite a while now. I’m also a member of the proa_file yahoo group. Anyway, thought I might as well join the fun.
Have I built a proa? No. Am I going to? Yes. When? Always tomorrow. Seriously though, it’s pretty hard to decide what to build. On top of that, I’m studying so that takes up a bit of time.
You can visit my website (not always frequently updated) to see some of the stuff I’ve made, as well as a rather length list of proa links.
Greetings,
Thomas
Hi Thomas, welcome to the forum!
Thomas
What a brilliant web-site, some really coool cheap-stuff.
What comes next? how about a micro-cruising proa built like the canoe of sticks and tarp? Interesting to hear that the simple box shape and no rocker works.
Mark
Hi Thomas,
Your boat is very similar to what I really wanted to build, but at 16’. I went for a very similar symmetric hull in the end because I just started building almost without thinking about it, really, and that was the easiest.
(from Proud Mary’s thread)
I was looking for your proa, any progress or pics/videos yet?
Just seen your site, congrats, you have some great stuff there! Can’t wait to see the proa!
cheers
Glad you like the site, I’ve been giving it an overhaul the last few days to make it easier to edit.
I’ve added a page on my outrigger canoe now, see http://www.tdem.co.nz/outrigger-canoe
I don’t have any videos of the shunting rig yet, don’t know if I’ll be getting any either as the water temperature is now less than desirable in this part of the world (then again, compared to some countries it’s probably luxury 😊 )

Just testing if posting works again…
