I decided to name her Sangria.  It is named after the drink. It’s a refreshing drink that is composed of wine and fresh fruits.  Along with the contruction the drink has always been pouring, that is the story behind it! 😛

Ok, lets get this going.

With the help of two friends we are constructing a proa in Los Angeles!! I believe it will be the first in the area!

The process has been coming along. Shunting proa; the main hull is 24 ft and the float is 18 ft. I am not able to have it in the water all the time so its going to be trailerable.  The anticipated width is 13 ft. Its a modern type proa but its meant for short distance sails. I would also say its a weekender.  Take a look at some progress pics. The start date was April 2013.

Deck being built. It is not as heavy so thats good. The cracked white paint is a primer that was added to help with sun and moisture.

More pics of the deck. The compartment tops have been made. They fit right in and will use no hinge for now. Might think of creating a hinge so it stays in place at all times.

Nice project! Are you planning on any centre/leeboards? The rudders might be a little under-engineered. Laurent knows more about this topic.

Very interesting.

Are the hulls recycled from another boat?  If not, how were they made?

Why the blunt bows?

I like your caster based steering oar set up.  Clever!

The hulls were already designed and constructed by my friend.

They were done over the past years and were in storage. They are now being used!

Im happy how the setup ended up as well. :D
