Claudio, just wanted to say I LOVE the fabric finish for your vaka hull. Brilliant! I laughed for several minutes. You’ll have to think about how to describe your vessel’s colour to the coast guard…
My Hawaiian shirt is blue, black and white (with voyaging canoes, of course), and my proa will be gray.
I think a raft-up picture is in our future.
Variety is the spice of life… more power to you.

” Sorry if I ramble on sometimes…a tendency that happens with us old farts : )”

dude, we’re in the same boat 😊

“What I [am] trying to share though, is that small boat building isn’t rocket science.”

I know, and its nice, demystifying. But, like I said, thing that seem obvious to you are obvious by dint of a lifetime of experience and mistakes. We learn this when we work with someone who does not have experience, they make all sorts of assumptions we would just intuitively never make.

“There really is not much that can go too wrong.”

except if you’re foolhardy enough to believe you can sail to Hawaii in your first time build.

The pointy end goes in the front (two pointy ends are better than one) and if water starts to seep in…goop the hole.

“The huge stresses and immense loads that are present in large vessels are almost non existent in the smaller sizes.”

right.

keep up the good work. Maybe we can meet you next time I visit Victoria, but you’ll be off between Hawaii and Tahiti by then 😊
