I tried out some new tape and cloth, very happy with the results.

From Raka.com:

Cloth: Style 120 - 3.25oz (T) x 50 in -Fiberglass Cloth

Tape: Biaxial 1200 - 12oz w/no mat + 45 x - 45 x 4in

In particular, this cloth does not need a lot of epoxy to fill it, and does not seem to need an additional coat of epoxy to smooth it out.  The cloth has a very smooth weave, it should be much lighter than the older type of weave.
