I accidentally designed a folding suspension system when working on my minimal proa. I thought I would start a new topic so not to get confused with minimal proa.

See below

A) Two long parallel darker grey tubes, aka
B) Light grey structure ama support, totally over size, will simplify, it is also free to slide backwards which needs fixing
C) Small yellow tube fixed folding tube
D) Small green tube removable folding tube

The folding tubes are attached to the aka with bungee lashings, this gives some movement and can be tuned to give a ‘harder’ or ‘softer’ ride. Due to the tube placement the ama can be pushed up, hits a wave, but not down, flying mode. That is the suspension bit.

To fold, remove the removable tube, and simply pivot around the fixed folding tube.

On the minimal proa that reduces the width to 1.4m. Which is 75mm (2 1/2”) more than a laser dinghy.

I am going to re design the ama support and in doing so make it all a little wider so the mast can be left up.

A few developments,
Sails, and spars to be stored in the gap between ama and mast

Nice idea - are you supposed to put yourself as a live ballast somewhere near the tube lashing?
