Hello Proaficionados,
I’m a long time admirer of multihulls and then proas after WB#83. I enjoy building smaller boats and adding sail rigs to small boats that don’t have them. Right now, I’ve got a Spencer designed Firebug dinghy in the basement I need to finish. I like sailing dinghies and catamarans and spent a couple of great seasons crewing on a Fireball.
Proas are fascinating to me due to their speed, different sailing requirements and how lightly they can be built. In the past, I’ve sketched out several proas on paper and with Carlson’s Hulls program. I’m glad to be on the forum as I’ve got tons of questions and I’m grateful for the information that’s already here.
Recently, I hadn’t thought much about proas. Then I saw the CLC’s Madness and I got all excited again. I just received the study plans for Madness and can’t believe all the solid information that’s in them. I’ll buy a set of plans when they become available. These are always interesting boats, but right now seems like an exciting time for proas.
My main interest is in a smaller proa. Gary Dierking’s blog and boats are an inspiration and I’ve also enjoyed reading about the 24 footer variations here on the forum. My previous drawings and files are gone, so I’ve downloaded Hulls and am dinking around with it again.
I’m also glad for the tone of this forum as it seems easy going. Thanks to the admin and moderators for keeping it going.

Welcome John! Looking forward to any drawings you might come up with. Bit of a bummer losing your old ones. Still, it’s a chance to re-think everything 😊
