The First Proa Only Race

31 August 2021     Editor    7 Comments.

Nicolas Duchein is organizing the first proa only ocean race ever, called the CHEERS Challenge. Set to start 01/03/2023 (I assume that means March 1) the race course circumnavigates the Caribbean islands of St. Croix and Martinique.

Note: This is not actually the first proa only race because many proa races have been held in the Pacific in recent years for instance, the Majuro Day canoe races in the Marshall Islands. Maybe the first proa only race in the Atlantic.

Thank you Nicolas for the submission!

  • Not the first race for sure. But oceanic one with more than 600 nautical miles maybe. The important thing is just to have pleasure with so many boat.

    • My only contact info was Nicolas' email visible on the race poster in the gallery above. I heard a rumor that the race did not go on after all, but I would like to know what happened also.
