Minimus II Sea Trials

Minimus II is an interesting design project that is now undergoing sea trials off the Oregon coast. Designed by David Omick and Pearl Mast for comfortable, if minimal, ocean transport for two in the trade winds, the boat is also carefully and creatively designed to make a minimal dent in the wallet. While the 4-masted junk rig may be considered a bit over the top, there is a reason for the madness, and I admire their willingness to try something new. The project is also very well documented. I like the minimal HTML as well. Via Boat Bits.

  • I have been interested in this one for a while, It strikes me as great for people who actually like being at sea but aren’t masochists.  This boat and the stuff being done by Rael Dobkins seem to be picking up the Wharram baton and moving things in an interesting direction.

  • Hi Michael,
Thanks for posting this. And a big thanks to David and Pearl for sharing their extensive, hands on experience with us. I learnt so much going through their well documented web site. So many good ideas.
Good luck and fair winds to them.
