Proaler Skate
To remind us that not all proas are watercraft, we exhibit the 1958 Zündapp Janus. This tiny treasure is part of the Bruce Weiner Microcar Museum, which is contracting with RM Auctions to liquidate its inventory, with just under 200 Microcars to be auctioned off without reserve over two days.
Lot 248, the 1958 Zündapp Janus, stands out as strange, even among a field of curiosities at auction. Like its namesake, the Janus appears to face in both directions at once. Its bench seats face both forwards and back, and fold to become a bed. The motor is located underneath, in the center of the car. Whoever buys this would do well to snag the plethora of Zündapp memorabilia also for auction. This Janus will be offered on February 15th, estimated to sell for $30-40k.
Or perhaps the X2 concept car by by Yeon-woo Seong, a Korean industrial designer, is more to your liking.
This car has been designed with symmetric structure to offer some advantages especially when you are trapped in traffic congestion. Due to symmetric front and rear structure, it is possible for the driver to drive in any direction, anytime. Inspired by 1958 Zundapp Janus, this electric car has been designed with 2 driver’s seat, front and rear, it allows the driver to run this car in any wanted direction. It feels like having 2 cars.
Thanks to Paul D. for the X-2 link.
